However, this is usually not quantified more precisely, only formulas with the &#8222;final feedback&#8220; are usually given.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Recently, David Coe, Walter Fabinski and Gerhard Wiegleb described and analyzed precisely this feedback in the publication &#8222;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.sciencepublishinggroup.com\/article\/10.11648\/j.ijaos.20210502.12\">The Impact of CO2, H2O and Other &#8218;Greenhouse Gases&#8216; on Equilibrium Earth Temperatures<\/a>&#8222;. Based on her publication, this effect is derived below using partly the same and partly slightly different approaches. The results are almost identical.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>All other effects that occur during the formation of water vapor, such as cloud formation, are ignored here.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The basic mechanism of water vapor feedback<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>The starting point is an increase in atmospheric temperature by \u2206T0, regardless of the cause. Typically, the greenhouse effect is assumed to be the primary cause. The argument is now that the warmed atmosphere can absorb more water vapor, i.e. the saturation vapor pressure (SVP) increases and it is assumed that consequently the water vapor concentration \u2206H2O also increases, as a linear function of the temperature change. (The temperature change is so small that linearization is legitimate in any case):<br><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/klima-fakten.net\/wp-content\/ql-cache\/quicklatex.com-a4a607f112aea8409955b1b1cfa1b383_l3.png\" class=\"ql-img-inline-formula quicklatex-auto-format\" alt=\"&#92;&#68;&#101;&#108;&#116;&#97;&#32;&#72;&#95;&#50;&#79;&#32;&#61;&#32;&#106;&#92;&#99;&#100;&#111;&#116;&#32;&#92;&#68;&#101;&#108;&#116;&#97;&#32;&#84;&#95;&#48;\" title=\"Rendered by QuickLaTeX.com\" height=\"17\" width=\"128\" style=\"vertical-align: -4px;\"\/><br>where <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/klima-fakten.net\/wp-content\/ql-cache\/quicklatex.com-43c82d5bb00a7568d935a12e3bd969dd_l3.png\" class=\"ql-img-inline-formula quicklatex-auto-format\" alt=\"&#106;\" title=\"Rendered by QuickLaTeX.com\" height=\"16\" width=\"9\" style=\"vertical-align: -4px;\"\/> is the proportionality constant for the water vapor concentration.<br>An increased water vapor concentration in turn causes a temperature increase due to the greenhouse effect of water vapor, which is linearly dependent on the water vapor concentration:<br><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/klima-fakten.net\/wp-content\/ql-cache\/quicklatex.com-17459a2fc3cb7b7b2d5603bd73834a59_l3.png\" class=\"ql-img-inline-formula quicklatex-auto-format\" alt=\"&#92;&#68;&#101;&#108;&#116;&#97;&#32;&#84;&#95;&#49;&#32;&#61;&#32;&#107;&#92;&#99;&#100;&#111;&#116;&#32;&#92;&#68;&#101;&#108;&#116;&#97;&#32;&#72;&#95;&#50;&#79;\" title=\"Rendered by QuickLaTeX.com\" height=\"16\" width=\"130\" style=\"vertical-align: -3px;\"\/><br>In summary, the triggering temperature increase \u2206T0 causes a subsequent increase in temperature \u2206T1:<br><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/klima-fakten.net\/wp-content\/ql-cache\/quicklatex.com-7848149e5dcf73a1f55fd4c75dba8d21_l3.png\" class=\"ql-img-inline-formula quicklatex-auto-format\" alt=\"&#92;&#68;&#101;&#108;&#116;&#97;&#32;&#84;&#95;&#49;&#32;&#61;&#32;&#106;&#92;&#99;&#100;&#111;&#116;&#32;&#107;&#92;&#99;&#100;&#111;&#116;&#32;&#92;&#68;&#101;&#108;&#116;&#97;&#32;&#84;&#95;&#48;\" title=\"Rendered by QuickLaTeX.com\" height=\"17\" width=\"132\" style=\"vertical-align: -4px;\"\/><br>Since the prerequisite of the method is that the cause of the triggering temperature increase is insignificant, the increase by \u2206T1 naturally also causes a feedback cycle again:<br><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/klima-fakten.net\/wp-content\/ql-cache\/quicklatex.com-fc3b606be5faff1e037a7c2be0e65d6e_l3.png\" class=\"ql-img-inline-formula quicklatex-auto-format\" alt=\"&#92;&#68;&#101;&#108;&#116;&#97;&#32;&#84;&#95;&#50;&#32;&#61;&#32;&#106;&#92;&#99;&#100;&#111;&#116;&#32;&#107;&#92;&#99;&#100;&#111;&#116;&#32;&#92;&#68;&#101;&#108;&#116;&#97;&#32;&#84;&#95;&#49;&#32;&#61;&#32;&#40;&#106;&#92;&#99;&#100;&#111;&#116;&#32;&#107;&#41;&#94;&#50;&#92;&#99;&#100;&#111;&#116;&#32;&#92;&#68;&#101;&#108;&#116;&#97;&#32;&#84;&#95;&#48;\" title=\"Rendered by QuickLaTeX.com\" height=\"20\" width=\"254\" style=\"vertical-align: -5px;\"\/><br>This is repeated recursively. It is therefore important to be clear about the magnitude of these two feedback factors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For the determination of the first term, <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/klima-fakten.net\/wp-content\/ql-cache\/quicklatex.com-43c82d5bb00a7568d935a12e3bd969dd_l3.png\" class=\"ql-img-inline-formula quicklatex-auto-format\" alt=\"&#106;\" title=\"Rendered by QuickLaTeX.com\" height=\"16\" width=\"9\" style=\"vertical-align: -4px;\"\/> we can apply a simplified approach by accepting the statement commonly used in the mainstream literature, that for each degree C of temperature increase the relative air moisture may rise up to 7%.  <a href=\"https:\/\/klima-fakten.net\/?p=9287\">In the German version of this post<\/a> I did the explicit calculations and came to the result that the realistic maximum air moisture rise is 6% per degree temperature rise, which has hardly any effect on the final result. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Dependence of the greenhouse effect on the change in relative humidity<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Infrared radiation transport in the atmosphere is dependent on relative humidity. This is taken into account in the well-known and proven MODTRAN simulation program. With increasing humidity, the outgoing infrared radiation decreases due to the greenhouse effect of water vapor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The decrease in radiation is linear between 60% and 100% humidity. Therefore, the increase in relative humidity from 80% to 86% is considered to determine the decrease in radiant power and the temperature increase required for compensation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To do this, we set the parameters of the MODTRAN simulation to<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>the current CO2 concentration of 420 ppm,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>a relative humidity of 80%,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>and a cloud constellation that comes close to the average IR radiant power of 240 <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/klima-fakten.net\/wp-content\/ql-cache\/quicklatex.com-d81ee29c34ee1d291f400810baabd252_l3.png\" class=\"ql-img-inline-formula quicklatex-auto-format\" alt=\"&#92;&#102;&#114;&#97;&#99;&#123;&#87;&#125;&#123;&#109;&#94;&#50;&#125;\" title=\"Rendered by QuickLaTeX.com\" height=\"23\" width=\"19\" style=\"vertical-align: -7px;\"\/>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"659\" src=\"https:\/\/klima-fakten.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/image-2-1024x659.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-9352\" srcset=\"https:\/\/klima-fakten.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/image-2-1024x659.png 1024w, https:\/\/klima-fakten.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/image-2-300x193.png 300w, https:\/\/klima-fakten.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/image-2-768x494.png 768w, https:\/\/klima-fakten.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/image-2.png 1062w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The temperature offset is now increased until the reduced iR radiation of 0.7 \\frac{W}{m^2} is compensated for by increasing the temperature. This is the case when the ground temperature is increased by 0.215 \u00b0C.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"732\" height=\"735\" src=\"https:\/\/klima-fakten.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/image-6.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-9432\" srcset=\"https:\/\/klima-fakten.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/image-6.png 732w, https:\/\/klima-fakten.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/image-6-300x300.png 300w, https:\/\/klima-fakten.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/image-6-150x150.png 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 732px) 100vw, 732px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>A 7% higher relative humidity therefore causes a greenhouse effect, which is offset by a temperature increase of 0.215\u00b0C.
